The 21st GwangHwaMun International Short Film Festival opens on November 16!

The 21st GISFF takes place at MovieBloc from November 16 to December 15.

Total 21 short films compete in the International Competition section.

Four jury members will determine the winners at the end of the film festival.

The 21st GwangHwaMun International Short Film Festival(GISFF) takes place at MovieBloc, a global streaming platform for independent films, from November 16 to December 15.

The official selection of the International Competition at the 21st GISFF is unveiled. Total 21 short films from 10 countries are screened for Korean and international audiences. Audiences can participate in the online screenings at MovieBloc. With the purchase of GISFF Pass($10), audiences can watch all the finalists of the 21st GISFF.

The 21 short films of the International Competition compete for awards, and the jury members will decide the three awardees of Gold, Silver, and Bronze Awards with monetary awards of a virtual asset (MBL) worth USD 60,000 total.

Also, GISFF presents Audience Award which is a monetary award of a virtual asset (MBL) worth USD 5,000 from this edition. Audiences can vote by star rating after participating in online screenings of the finalists at MoviBloc. As the result of the star rating by audiences, the Audience Award winner will be determined.

All the winners will be announced on the closing day of the 21st GISFF, December 15, on the GISFF website.

The four jury members at the 21st GISFF are as follows:

Kim Bongseok is a Film Critic from Korea. He worked as a journalist for Cine 21, a weekly film magazine and Hankyoreh, a newspaper. He also worked as a programmer for Asian territory at Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival. He writes and talks regarding films, genre novels, comics, and pop culture.

LEE Zooyoung is a Director from Korea. She made a feature debut with A Single Rider in 2016 and was nominated for Best New Director at the Blue Dragon Awards, Buil Film Awards, and Baeksang Arts Awards. She wrote and directed the eight-episode series Anna(2022).

Matthew POON from Hong Kong is Project Manager of Hong Kong International Film Festival Industry, which is formerly called Hong Kong – Asia Film Financing Forum(HAF) since 2011. He oversees the operation of HKIFF Industry and helps promote its work and initiatives across the region.

TAY Bee Pin’ is a Director and Producer from Singapore. His first produced feature film Breakfast, Lunch Dinner(2010) was an official selection at the International Film Festival Rotterdam and travelled to close to 30 film festivals. He also produced and directed the omnibus feature 5 to 9(2015). In 2020, he was awarded Best Director at the Asia Web Awards in Seoul for his music video Orang Singapura.
