Guide to the Reorganization of the Gwanghwamun International Short Film Festival
Since December 2003, the Asiana International Short Film Festival (ASIFF) has been held over the past 20 years
It has presented various short films at home and abroad, establishing itself as a global film festival.
In 2021, Gwanghwamun, which was the main venue from the first time, will be used as a symbol
It has been renamed the Gwanghwamun International Short Film Festival (GISFF).
It is the main gate of Gyeongbokgung Palace, the royal palace of the Joseon Dynasty, and has a historical meaning of Korea
It’s a place where a large-scale event or cultural program is held
It symbolizes the public place and the value of sharing in modern Korea
It was to become a K-film festival representing the world by engraving the meaning of Gwanghwamun.
In 2021, the Film Festival changed its name and hosted a total of three film festivals.
In the process, there was a crisis called COVID-19 in 2022
We held an online independent film festival to introduce various short films to the audience.
For the first time in the world, we receive online entries through the MovieBlock platform,
It has attracted hundreds of participants through innovation that goes the whole way online, free of time and space,
The audience was impressed with various short films at home and abroad.
In the future, we want to create a new film festival online that can be enjoyed by all short filmmakers around the world.
In 2023, we plan to have a reorganization period and reopen it in a different way.
MovieBlock will consider and strive for an environment where short films can be easily accessed by lowering the hurdle of the festival’s accessibility.
In addition, we will support artists who produce short films, so that creators can express the stories they want.
