김봉석

KIM Bongseok | Film Critic | Korea

Kim Bongseok worked as a journalist for Cine 21, a weekly film magazine and Hankyoreh, a newspaper, He also worked as editor in chief for Brut, a cultural magazine, AComics, a webzine specialized in comics reviews, and 360 Degree, a webzine specialized in Humanities KIM Bongseok also worked as a programmer for Asian territory at Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival. He writes and talks regarding films, genre novels, comics, and pop culture. He wrote several books, such as My Adventure of Pop Culture, Hardboiled Where My Power Comes From, Only One Episode. Yet It’s Not The End, Cinema Dungeon: KIM Bongseok Film Reviews, Cinema Dungeon, Genre Guide for Writers of Web Novels:Mystery, Hardboiled Comics Shop, Wish I Could Be An Excellent Writer, All Directional Writing. In addition, he co-wrote A Pervert inside of Me, Directive Dictionary, Zombie Dictionary, SF Films, Cinema Mathematics.

LEE Zooyoung | Director | Korea

Lee received an MFA degree from the Film Department of the Korea National University of Arts in 2012. She made a feature debut with A Single Rider in 2016 and was nominated for Best New Director at the Blue Dragon Awards, Buil Film Awards, and Baeksang Arts Awards. She wrote and directed the eight-episode series Anna(2022).

Matthew POON | Project Manager at Hong Kong International Film Festival Industry | Hong Kong

Project Manager of HKIFF Industry (formerly Hong Kong – Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF)) since 2011. He oversees the operation of HKIFF Industry and helps promote its work and initiatives across the region. Prior to his current role, he has worked for the Broadcasting Authority of Hong Kong which oversees the broadcasting sectors and film distribution companies in the private sector. In addition, he has also worked in the fields of investment banking and market research.

TAY Bee Pin | Director & Producer | Singapore

TAY Bee Pin’s first produced feature film Breakfast, Lunch Dinner(2010) was an official selection at the International Film Festival Rotterdam and travelled to close to 30 film festivals. He also produced and directed the omnibus feature 5 to 9(2015) which world premiered at the Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival and was nominated for the NETPAC Award. An alumnus of the ‘Berlinale Talents’ and ‘Rotterdam Lab,’ his film projects had been invited no less than 5 times by the Taipei’s Golden Horse Film Project Promotion. Changfeng Town(2019), where he co-produced with China was awarded the Asian Cinema Fund and screened at the Busan International Film Festival in 2019. In 2020, he was awarded Best Director at the Asia Web Awards in Seoul for his music video Orang Singapura.

차성덕

CHA Sungduk | Film Director, Screenwriter

A graduate of School of Film, TV & Multimedia at the Korea National University of Arts, CHA Sungduk received public attention when her short films, Never Cry(2007) and Vanished Night(2011) were invited to renowned film festivals in Korea and abroad. She worked as a script supervisor for Crush and Blush(2008) and The Truth Beneath(2016) and as an adapter for Juror 8(2019). Her feature debut Youngju(2018) was released in theaters in November 2018 in Korea, after premiering at the 23rd Busan International Film Festival. The film received great reviews from audiences in Korea and it was invited to international film festivals, such as Giffoni Film Festival, BFI London Film Festival, and Asian Film Festival of Dallas. Currently, CHA Sungduk is in preparation for her next feature film.

정대건

JUNG Daegun | Film Director

JUNG Daegun majored Directing at Korean Academy of Film Arts(KAFA). He directed a documentary Too Old Hip-Hop Kid(2011), and two feature films, Sabra(2014) and Mate(2017). He is the author of a full-length novel, GV Villein GO Taekyung and a collection of short stories, I Tinder You.

김현우

KIM Hyunwoo | Director, Producer, Screenwriter at Gulliver Pictures

KIM Hyunwoo graduated from the regular courses and the feature film research courses at the Korean Academy of Film Arts(KAFA). He also completed the KAFA+ S3D courses at the KAFA. After that, he graduated with a major in film at the department of performing arts of Graduate school of arts at Chung-Ang University. KIM Hyunwoo is Screenwriter and Director of a feature film, Dead Camping The Live(2022), and Screenwriter, Director, and Producer of a feature film, Memory(2021). He is also Co-screenwriter, Co-executive producer, and Producer for a feature film, Azooma(2012). Also, he directed a feature documentary, Blessed On the Screen, Actor KIM Il-hae(2002). In addition, he directed 19 middle length and short films, including Man and Wife(2015) and short animated films including, Entry(2013). Additionally, he directed and produced a variety of visual works, such as commercials, advertising, and music videos.

김정은

KIM Jungeun | Film Director Zoetrope Film

KIM Jungeun was born in Incheon. She majored Directing at the Department of Film at Yong In University. She directed shorts, In This Town(2015), Night Working(2017), and Msgdalena(2018). With these works, she was invited to a variety of film festivals in Korea and abroad. Her debut feature film Gyeong-ah’s Daughter(2022) was invited to the Korean competition at the 23rd JeonJu International Film Festival and won two awards, CGV Arthouse Award Distribution Support Prize and Watcha´s Pick: Feature.

SONG Kyungwon | Film Critic and journalist at Cine21

SONG Kyungwon is a film critic and a journalist of a weekly film magazine Cine21. He made a debut as a film critic when he won the film criticism award of Cine21. He completed a doctoral course for Film Theory at Dongguk University in 2012. SONG Kyungwon co-authored Enigmatic Masters, Undiscovered Masterpieces(2015), Outstanding Artists, Unconventional Adventurers(2019), and Producer(2019). Also, he authored LEE Chungho―Webtoon Artist Criticism(2019). He works on criticism not only for films but also for games, animated films, and culture industries.

Alice YOO | Independent Film Scholar, Former Research Professor for Humanities and Social Science at the National Research Foundation of Korea

Alice YOO received her Master degree for Film Studies at Department of Drama and Cinema in Dongguk University and completed a doctoral course at Department of Film & Digital Media in Dongguk University. She worked as a Programmer specializing in Asia regions at Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival. After that, she worked as a Research Professor at the National Research Foundation of Korea. Currently, she’s actively doing research on film. Alice YOO published several papers, such as Abjection and the Feminine Subject in The Truth Beneath: Focused on Close-up, Film Space and Sound and History of Close-up: Photogénie in Silent Films and Variations in Contemporary Films.
